2nd ODI: Pakistan beat South Africa by 1 Run - Port Elizabeth Nov 27, 2013


Pakistan won by 1 run against South Africa in the 2nd ODI Cricket match Played at Port Elizabeth on November 27, 2013. PAK fought back brilliantly to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and win the 2nd ODI by 1 run. They lead the series 2-0.

This is Pakistan's maiden ODI series win in South Africa. Only these two teams could have snatched defeat from the hands of victory and South Africa continue to live up to their 'Chokers' tag. Chasing a competitive total of 262, they went off to a poor start losing Smith, but Amla and de Kock steadied the ship with an 87-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. The arrival of ABD saw South Africa shift gears. The South African captain went berserk and smashed all the Pakistani bowlers all round the park. His dismissal slowed things down and pressure got to them and eventually they lost by a narrow margin.

Previously South Africa have won the toss and chose to field. A competitive total in the end by Pakistan, but they will be disappointed as they were cruising at one stage and easily could have crossed the 300 mark. Steyn bowled well to end with 6 for 39, his career-best figures in ODIs. But a late surge by Umar Akmal and Bhatti helped Pakistan add some crucial runs in the end.
