The Pakistani middle-order have done an excellent recovery after a disastrous start. They were 18 for 3 at one stage and with the help of Misbah, Fawad and Akmal ended up with 260. The top order were succumbed to some brilliant bowling from Malinga who got the in-form Hafeez and Shehzad early. The skipper, Misbah was once again handed the job of steading the innings. Fawad helped him out with a brilliant 122 run stand for the fourth wicket. He continued even after losing Misbah as he added 115 with Akmal who came in and bludgeoned the bowling to all parts.

Fawad was instrumental in the Pakistani innings today as he got his first ODI hundred. He showed a lot of composure and maturity as he started off the innings slowly and gained pace towards the end.

Kusal done in after a bright start. Kumar Sangakkara gone for nought the very next ball. The championship hanging in the balance. Sri Lanka's chase rocked. Enter, Mahela, who had only mustered 36 runs in the lead up to this final. But gee, he has a penchant for the big occassion. He displayed that today, piloting the chase with those crafty dabs and lovely drives. Thirimanne benefitted from the calmness of Mahela and constructed another ton, his 2nd in this tournament to stake his claim for a permanent position in the XI. Though both fell at the door step of victory, Mathews and Chaturanga completed the formalities.
