2nd ODI: Pakistan beat South Africa by 1 Run - Port Elizabeth Nov 27, 2013

Pakistan won by 1 run against South Africa in the 2nd ODI Cricket match Played at Port Elizabeth on November 27, 2013. PAK fought back brilliantly to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and win the 2nd ODI by 1 run. They lead the series 2-0.

This is Pakistan's maiden ODI series win in South Africa. Only these two teams could have snatched defeat from the hands of victory and South Africa continue to live up to their 'Chokers' tag. Chasing a competitive total of 262, they went off to a poor start losing Smith, but Amla and de Kock steadied the ship with an 87-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. The arrival of ABD saw South Africa shift gears. The South African captain went berserk and smashed all the Pakistani bowlers all round the park. His dismissal slowed things down and pressure got to them and eventually they lost by a narrow margin.

Previously South Africa have won the toss and chose to field. A competitive total in the end by Pakistan, but they will be disappointed as they were cruising at one stage and easily could have crossed the 300 mark. Steyn bowled well to end with 6 for 39, his career-best figures in ODIs. But a late surge by Umar Akmal and Bhatti helped Pakistan add some crucial runs in the end.

Pakistan Innings - 262 (45 Overs, 10 Wickets)

3rd ODI: India beat West Indies & Won the Series by 2-1

India won by 5 wickets with 23 balls remaining against West Indies in the 3rd ODI Cricket Match Played at Kanpur on November 27, 2013. Shikhar Dhawan scored his fifth ODI century of the year while Yuvraj Singh (55) found form as India defeated West Indies by five wickets to take the three-match series 2-1.

This was a professional performance by the Indian batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fell cheaply but Dhawan was in sublime form. Yuvraj Singh was an able foil, he wasn't at his best, struggling notably against Narine, but managed to fight along. The pair all but took the match out of the visitor's hands. Dhawan completed his 5th ODI hundred, Yuvraj went past fifty after a long time. Raina played a sweet little cameo while Dhoni was there to play the winning shot. For West Indies, Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine were exceptional with the ball, but they got no support from the rest of the bowling attack. India win the series 2-1 and will now go to South Africa in an exuberant mood.

Previously India have won the toss and chose to bowl. West Indies  started well, thanks to a century partnership between Powell and Samuels. Both batsmen got starts, passed fifty but failed to convert it into bigger knocks. The spinners, Ashwin and Jadeja brought India back into the game in the middle overs and at 196/5, the visitors looked like they had frittered away a strong start. Darren Bravo held firm though, and Sammy used the long handle to good effect as the duo added 67 runs for the 6th wicket.

West Indies 263/5 (50 overs) Samuels 71, Powell 70, Darren Bravo 51*)
India Innings - 266/5 (46.1 overs) (Dhawan 119, Yuvraj 55)

Dhawan was the Man of the Match for his 119 off 95 balls.
Kohli got the Man of the Series for a series aggregate of 204 runs.

1st ODI: Pakistan beat South Africa by 23 Runs - Cape Town, November 24, 2013

Pakistan tour of South Africa 2013: Pakistan won by 23 runs against South Africa in the 1st ODI Cricket Match Played at Cape Town on November 24, 2013. Excellent all-round performances by ODI debutants, Bilawal Bhatti and Anwar Ali handed Pakistan a splendid 23 run win.

Pakistan 218 for 9 (Ali 43*, Bhatti 39, Steyn 3-33)
South Africa 195 (Kallis 50, Duminy 49, Bhatti 3-37)
Click here for the Full Scorecard Update

It's been a wonderful game for Pakistan. They fought back with the bat nicely thanks to Anwar Ali and Bhatti. In the chase, Kallis scored a nice fifty in his comeback game. JP Duminy chipped in with a useful 49 as well but Bhatti bagged 3 crucial wickets. Anwar Ali partnered him brilliantly here as well, getting 2 important wickets.

Anwar Ali is the Man of the Match for his all-round show.

Previously Pakistan have won the toss and they chose to bat. Pakistan were going to be bowled out under 150-160, but debutant Bilawal Bhatti and Anwar Ali combined really well for the 8th wicket to share a 74-run stand and help their side get a respectable score. The top-order once again collapsed to some good bowling from South Africa. Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad got off to a very sedate start, but Dale Steyn found the outside edge of Jamshed to open the floodgates. None of the batsman in the top-order were willing to spend time and the visitors were reduced to 131/7 in the 36th over. But since then, Ali and Bhatti played sensibly and accelerated towards the end to bail Pakistan out of trouble. Steyn and Morkel bagged three wickets each while Kallis, in his comeback match, grabbed two.

2nd ODI: West Indies beat India by 2 Wickets - Visakhapatnam, Nov 24, 2013

West Indies tour of India 2013: West Indies won by 2 wickets with 3 balls remaining against India in the 1st ODI Cricket Match Played at Visakhapatnam on November 24, 2013. Darren Sammy scored an unbeaten 63 and put on a crucial 82-run stand with Lendl Simmons (62) to help West Indies win the second ODI against India by 2 wickets with 3 deliveries to spare.

India 288/7 (50 overs)
West Indies 289/8 (49.3 overs)
West Indies won by 2 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)

Man of the Match: Darren Sammy

West Indies pull off the victory and level the series 1-1. They got off to a poor start when they lost Charles and Samuels early. But Darren Bravo and Powell steadied the innings and added 100 runs for the third wicket. Both got to their fifties before throwing it away. Simmons was joined by Sammy with whom he added 82 runs for the sixth wicket. Simmons had a reprieve on 43, when Yuvraj dropped a simple catch. He then went on to score a fifty and became one of the four batsmen to do so. But it was their Test skipper, who kept his cool and took them home.

Previously West Indies have won the toss and chose to field. A decent effort in the end from India. They looked good for more when Kohli was going all guns blazing. He looked set to create history by scoring three consecutive tons on this ground, it was not to be though as Rampaul sent him packing for 99. Rohit Sharma fell early and Dhawan promised more than just 35. Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina disappointed yet again, and it was left to skipper MS Dhoni to lift India to a challenging score. 'Captain Cool' did his job and India will be pretty happy with their final tally. Ravi Rampaul was the best bowler on display, although his figures were damaged right at the end. Narine started poorly but pulled it back with an excellent spell during the batting PP.

Pakistan Won 2nd T20 Against South Africa and Level the Series by 1-1

Pakistan tour of South Africa 2013: Pakistan won by 6 runs against South Africa in the 2nd T20 Cricket Match Played at Newlands, Cape Town on November 22, 2013. Splendid fifties by Hafeez and Akmal coupled with a match-changing 3-wicket haul from Afridi helped Pak beat RSA by 6 runs.

It was an all-round effort from Pakistan that helps them square the 2-match series 1-1. South Africa were once again given a good start from de Kock and Amla. The latter continued after the departure of his partner and was out just before he could get his maiden T20I fifty. Duminy played well with Miller and they put on 53 for the fifth wicket. But they were left with too many to get and some good death bowling did not help their cause as well. Afridi was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three wickets and was well supported by Bhatti. Tanvir held his nerve to defend 17 runs in the last over and that helped Pakistan level the series.

Excellent batting display from Pakistan for a change. They elected to bat after winning the toss and have done well to post a very good total on board. Shehzad went early and Jamshed threw away his start. But since that it was the Hafeez and Akmal show. Both of them got to their fifties and took on the bowlers without fear. In process they were involved in a record third wicket partnership for Pakistan. None of the South African bowlers looked effective apart from Steyn.

Pakistan did well to come back from the loss in the first game to level the series. Hopefully, they carry this momentum in the upcoming ODI series. Today it was their batsmen who should be given the credit as they helped them post a good score. More importantly it was their skipper who led from the front. Misbah joins this team for the ODIs and they will look up to him to continue in the same way as Hafeez.

Pakistan Have Won the Toss and Chose to Bat

South Africa 170 for 4 (Amla 48, Afridi 3-28)

1st ODI: India beat West Indies by 6 Wickets - Kochi, Nov 21, 2013

India won by 6 wickets with 88 balls remaining against West Indies in the 1st ODI Cricket Match Played at Kochi on November 21, 2013. Jadeja and Raina picked up 3 wkts each before some tremendous batting by R Sharma and V Kohli helped India thrash the WI by 6 wickets. Click here for the Full Scorecard Update

Yet another convincing performance from the Indians and once again it was the top order who set them up for this chase. Rohit Sharma looked a bit iffy at the start, but then settled down to play some fine shots. He lost Dhawan early, but Kohli was once again in his elements. They made batting look easy on what was a difficult surface. Both made fifties, with Kohli also completing 5000 career ODI runs, becoming the fastest Indian and the joint fastest along with Sir Viv Richards.

Previously West Indies havewon the toss and elected to bat but they lost Gayle early who was run-out thanks to some brilliance by Bhuvneshwar. Samuels and Charles stitched together a nice partnership before spin was introduced. Jadeja and Raina got the two men in quick succession. Then it was the younger Bravo and Simmons who steadied the ship and added 65 runs for the fourth wicket. But Raina once again provided the wicket and broke the partnership. The skipper joined his brother and were looking solid until the batting powerplay was taken. The visitors lost both of them in the powerplay and never came back.

West Indies 211 (48.5 ov)
India 212/4 (35.2 ov)
India won by 6 wickets (with 88 balls remaining)

1st T20: South Africa beat Pakistan by DL Method - Nov 20, 2013

South Africa won by 4 runs (D/L method) against Pakistan in the 1st T20I Cricket Match of the Pakistan tour of South Africa Series, Which Played at Johannesburg on November 20, 2013. Click here for the Full Scorecard Update.

RSA beat Pak by 4 runs (D/L method) to go 1-0 in the two-match series. Pak were 60/2 after 9.1 overs before rain stopped play. The match was poised evenly when the rain Gods interrupted. The visitors had got off to a decent start and were within par with the required run-rate. Shehzad was the first to go when he chopped a ball onto the stumps from Tsotsobe. Hafeez and Jamshed did well to stitch a partnership before the latter got out. Soon the rain intervened and they were one hit away from winning.

Previously Pakistan have won the toss and chose to field, South Africa were off to a flier as de Kock and Amla got them going with a quick fire 72 for the first wicket. de Kock in particular was tremendous as he took on the bowlers and was going well before he played one shot too many. The rest of the batsmen got starts but none of them got going. Hafeez and Afridi were the pick of the bowlers, as they applied the brakes on the scoring and picked up wickets in the middle overs.

Man of the Match Q de Kock (South Africa)

Sachin Tendulkar farewell speech Video

Sachin Tendulkar farewell speech Video

Sachin Tendulkar: 'All my friends, settle down. Let me talk, I'll get more and more emotional.' The crowd goes berserk out there. 'My life, between 22 yards for 24 years, it's hard to believe that the wonderful journey is coming to an end. But I would like to take this opportunity to thank people who have played an important role in my life.

Also for the first time in my life I am carrying this list in my hand to remember all the names. In case I forget someone, I hope you understand. It's getting a little difficult to talk but I'll manage. The most important person in my life, and I've missed a lot since 1999 he passed away, my father. Without his guidance, I don't think I would have been standing here in front of you. He gave me freedom at the age of 11, and he told me, chase your dreams and make sure you don't find shortcuts. The path might be difficult but don't give up, and I've simply followed his instructions. Above all, he told me to be a nice human being which I've continued to do so, I've tried my best. Every time I've done something special, whenever I've shown my bat, it was for my father. So I miss him today.

My mother, I don't how she dealt with such a naughty child like me. I was not easy to manage. She must be extremely patient. For a mother, the most important thing is that her child remains safe and healthy, and fit and that's what she was most bothered about and worried about. She took care of me. For the first 24 years that I've played for India, but even before that, she started praying for me the day I started playing cricket. She just prayed and prayed and prayed and I think her prayers and blessing have given me the strength to go out and perform. So a big thank you to my mother for all the sacrifices.

In my school days, for fours years I stayed with my uncle and aunt because my school was quite far from my home and they treated me like their son. My aunt, after having had a hard day's play, I would be half asleep and she would be feeding me food so that I could go and play again tomorrow. I can't forget these moments, I'm like their son and I am glad that it has continued to be the same way.

My eldest brother Nitin and his family have always encouraged me. My eldest brother doesn't like to talk much. But the one thing he always told is that whatever you do, I know you would give 100% and I have full confidence and faith in you. It is that encouragement that meant a lot to me.

My sister Savita and her family was no different. The first cricket bat of my life was presented to me by my sister and it was a Kashmir Willow bat. But that is when the journey began. She is one of those many who continues to fast when I bat. So thank you very much. Ajit my brother, now what do I talk about him? I don't know really. We've lived this dream together. He was the one who sacrificed his career for my cricket. He spotted the spark in me. It all started from the age of 11, when he took me to Achrekar sir, my coach and from there on my life changed.

You will find this hard to believe that even last night he called me and we were discussing my dismissal. Knowing that there was a remote chance of batting again, but just that the habit which we've developed and the rapport we've developed since my birth, it has continued and it will continue. Maybe even when I am not playing cricket we will still be discussing technique. Various things we agreed upon, my technique and so many technical things which I didn't agree with him, we've had arguments and disagreements. But in the end when I look back at those things, if that hadn't happened in my life I would have been a lesser cricketer.

The most beautiful thing happened to me in 1991 when I met my wife Anjali, Those were special years and it has continued and it will always continue that way. I know Anjali being a doctor, there was a wonderful career in front of her. When we decided to have a family, Anjali took the initiative to step back and say that you continue with your cricket and I'll take the responsibility of the family. Without that I don't think I would have been able to play cricket freely and without any stress. Thanks for bearing with all my fuss, all my frustrations and all sorts of rubbish that I've spoken, I normally do. Thanks for bearing with me and always staying by my side through the ups and downs. You are the best partnership I've had in my life.

Then the two precious diamonds of my life, Sara and Arjun. They've already grown up. My daughter is 16 and my son is 14, time has flown by. I wanted to spend so much time with them on special occasions like their birthdays, annual days, sports days, going on holidays, whatever. I've missed out on all those things. Thanks for your understanding. Both of you have been so, so special to me. You cannot imagine. I promise you, for 14 years and 16 years, I've not spent enough time with both of you. But the next 16 years or even beyond that, everything is for you.

My in-laws have been so, so supportive, loving, caring. I've discussed on various things in life generally with them and taken their advise. You know, it's so important to have a strong family who's always with you guiding you. Before you start clapping, the most important thing they did was allowing me to marry Anjali, so thank you very much.

In the last 24 years that I've played for India I've made new friends and before that I've had friends of my childhood. They all have had terrific contributions. Right from you know, as and when I've called them to come and bowl to me in the nets, they've left all their work aside and come and helped me. Be it joining me on holidays or having discussions on cricket, when I was a little stressed and wanting to find a solution so that I could perform better. All those moments, my friends were with me. Even whenever I was injured I would wake up early in the morning because I could not sleep. I thought my career was over because of injuries. That's when my friends have woken up at 3 AM to drive with me and just make me believe that your career is not over. Life would be incomplete without all those friends. Thanks for being with me.

My cricket career started when I was 11. The turning point of my career was when my brother took me to Achrekar sir, my coach. I was extremely delighted to see him up in the stands. Normally he sits in front of the television and he watches all the games that I played. When I was 11, 12, those were the days where I used to hop back on his scooter and play couple of practice matches a day.

First half of the day I would be batting at Shivaji Park, the second half, some other match at Azad Maidan. Sir would be taking me all over Mumbai to make sure that I got match practice.

On a lighter note, in the last 29 years sir has never ever said 'well played' to me because he thought I would get complacent and I would stop working hard. Maybe he can push his luck and wish me now well done on my career because there are no more matches sir in my life. I would be just witnessing cricket and cricket will always stay in my heart. But you have had an immense contribution in my life. Thank you very much.'

'I know when MS Dhoni presented the 200th Test match cap on Day 1 morning, I had a brief message for the team. I would like to repeat that. I just feel that all of us are so, so fortunate and proud to be part of Indian cricket team serving the nation. Knowing all of you guys, I know you will continue to serve the nation in the right spirit and in the right values. I believe, we've been the lucky ones to have been chosen by the almighty to serve this wonderful sport.

Each generation gets this opportunity to merely take care of the sport and serve it to the best of our abilities. I have full faith in you that you will continue to serve the nation in the right spirit to the best of your ability and bring all the laurels to our country. All the very best. I would be failing in my duties if I didn't thank all the doctors, the physios, the trainers who've put this difficult body together to go back on the field and to be able to play.

The amount of injuries I have had in my career, I don't know how you've managed to keep me fit. But without your special efforts, it would never have happened. The doctors have met me at weird hours. I mean I've called them from Mumbai to Chennai, Mumbai to Delhi wherever. I think they've just taken the next flight and left their work, they've come, they've treated me which has allowed me to play. So a big thank you to all of you for keeping me in good shape.

My dear friend, late Mark Mascarenhas, my first manager. We unfortunately lost him in a car accident in 2001. But he was such a well wisher of cricket. My cricket and especially Indian cricket. He was so passionate. He understood what it takes to represent a nation and gave me all the space to go out and express myself and never pressurised me to do this ad or a promotion or whatever my sponsors demanded. He took care of all of that and today I miss him. Thank you Mark for all you contributions.

My current management team WSG for repeating what Mark has done, because when we signed the contract I exactly told them what I want from them and what it requires to be representing India. They've understood that and respected that. So thank you very much WSG. Someone who's worked closely 14 years with me is my manager Vinod Naidu, He's more like my family. And all the sacrifices spending time away from his family for my work has been special. So a big thank you to your family as well for giving so much time for Vinod. In the school days when I performed well, the media backed me a lot. You continued to do that this till morning.

Thank you so much to all the media for supporting me and appreciating my performances. It surely had a positive effect on me. Thank you so much to all the photographers as well, where those wonderful captured moments will stay with me for the rest of my life. A big thank you to all the photographers.

I know my speech is getting a bit too long, but this is the last thing I want to say [the crowd don't want Sachin to stop and were chanting no, no, no, suggesting him not to stop talking]. I want to thank all the people here who have flown in from various parts of the world and supported me endlessly whether I scored a 0 or 100 plus. Your support was so dear to me and it meant a lot to me. Whatever you've done for me, I know, I've met so many guys who've fasted for me, prayed for me and done all sorts of things for me. You know, without all that life wouldn't have been like this for me. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and I also say that time has flown by rather quickly.

But the memories that you've left with me will always be with me forever and ever. Especially, the chants of 'Sachin... Sachin..' [the crowd roar the famous chant again] That will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing. Thank you very much. If I have missed out on saying something, missed out a few names I hope you understand. Goodbye.'

'My cricket for Mumbai started right here on this ground. MCA, which is so dear to me, I remember landing from New Zealand at 4 AM and turning up for a game at 8 here just because I wanted to be part of Mumbai cricket. Not that anyone forced or MCA pressured me to be here but that was for the love of Mumbai cricket. The president is here and I thank you very much along with your team for taking care of me and looking after my cricket.

The dream was obviously to play for India and that's when my association with BCCI started. BCCI was fantastic right from my debut, believing in my ability, selecting me in the squad at the age 16 was a big step. So thanks to all the selectors for having faith in me and BCCI for giving me the freedom to express myself out in the middle. Things would have been different if you had not been behind me and I really appreciate you support especially when I was injured, you were right with me making sure that all the treatments were taken care of and I got fit and fine, playing back for India.

The journey has been special in the last 24 years.

I have played with many senior cricketers and even before that there were many senior cricketers whom I watched on television, they inspired me to play cricket and play the right way. So thanks so much to all those senior cricketers, unfortunately I've not been able to play with them but I have high regards for all their achievements and their contributions.

We see on the mega screen, Rahul, Laxman, Sourav, Anil is not here and my team-mates right here in front of me, you are like my family away from home. I've had some wonderful times with you. It is going to be difficult, not be part of that dressing room, sharing those special moments. All the coaches for their guidance. It's been special for me.'

Anjali Tendulkar: 'The retirement decision was his own. Firstly, taking the decision to retire or not to retire took a long time. It took a long time for all of us to process the decision. The response from the entire country, not just Mumbai, has been overwhelming. He belongs to the country first, then to Mumbai and then to me. He has always said that the minute he feels that he cannot give 100 percent, he will decide to retire. One day he came to me and said that he had taken the decision as he felt it was the right time. I told him, its ok, you don't have to feel sorry or guilty about it. Everything fitted in perfectly as the West Indies tour was announced and his farewell match was at Mumbai. I will be happy to hand over some family responsibilities now after he retires. All through the years, Sachin has done well to hide his expectations and not let the emotions affect him. He wanted his mother to come and see the game. He would have loved his father to be here too, but knows that he is watching from whe
rever he is. I think Sara has taken it in, just like Sachin she does not show her emotions. It is all sinking in. Our kids will realise what he has done today or tomorrow. Tendulkar wanted Arjun to play a shield game on the 2nd day, even though Arjun wasn't too keen. For the shield game, the opposition did not turn up, then Arjun took a taxi and rushed to the ground. Sachin saw him on the big screen, was delighted to see his son. He was doing the ball boy duties. I can imagine cricket without Sachin, but not Sachin without cricket.'

Sorry for the delay folks. We were preparing stuff to be up on the site. Coming back to the presentation ceremony, even Ravi Shastri was emotional. He misspelt a few words and then corrected them later. Even though he finished talking to Sammy, he called him again after having a chat with Dhoni and then realised that the interview was already done. Dravid and Ganguly were also emotional and it was such a sight to see grown up people break down in tears. People were wearing dark glasses and it was difficult to make out their emotions. Such was the occasion. Wife Anjali broke down as Sachin was speaking and she hugged her daughter. Arjun couldn't control himself as well. It was such a sight to see Sudhir (Sachin's fan) jumping up and down as he was allowed to step out on the outfield. One has to give it to the Wankhede crowd. They were absolutely electrifying and they never stopped the Sachin.. Sachin.. chants.

Day 2 and another day that entirely belonged to India in this series. It started off with all eyes glued on Sachin Tendulkar who played wonderfully before being dismissed against the run of play, much to the agony of the crowd that was very vocal. Cheteshwar Pujara carried on at the other end and rode his luck when the third umpire ruled a catch appeal in his favour when he was batting on 76.

Pujara went on to register his 5th Test hundred alongside Virat Kohli who made a fine fifty. Rohit Sharma then carried the innings on his shoulders and shared a 80-run 10th wicket stand with Mohammad Shami while bringing up his 2nd consecutive Test hundred. He also became only the 2nd Indian to score back-to-back Test hundreds in the first two innings of a Test career. India had already sized up a lead over 300 by then.

The West Indies came out and looked to defend initially. But Kieran Powell played a hapless shot to throw his wicket away to open the door for the Indian spinners. Ojha removed nightwatchman Tino Best before Ashwin found the outside edge of Darren Bravo in the final over the day. Looks like this match is going to end within 3 days. The batsmen are all at sea as the ball is turning big and bouncing a lot off the rough. Life is not going to be easy and the visitors have to hope for a miracle from here on to save this Test match.

Sachin Tendulkar was unbeaten on 38 as India reached 157/2 at stumps after Ojha's fifer shot West Indies out for 182 before tea on Day 1 of the second Test in Mumbai. India trail by 25 runs. Click here for the Full Scorecard Update

Previously India have won the toss and chose to field. The crowd were disappointed when Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss, they will not be complaining now though. On a pitch that had spin, pace and bounce, West Indies were done in by some excellent bowling and some poor selection of strokes. Many players got starts but none could get past Powell's 48. He was a shade unlucky to be given out, Samuels never looked at ease during his short stint, Chanderpaul was done in by a beauty and Sammy decided that he would rather watch Sachin bat in his final Test rather than batting himself. The tail collapsed against the spinners and that has left West Indies in a poor position.

Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a flying start. They were going well over 5 runs per over throughout their 77-run opening stand before the latter decided to throw it away. Shane Shillingford removed Vijay in the same over much to the delight of the crowd as they wanted to see Sachin Tendulkar bat today and the Master didn't disappoint them.

2nd ODI: New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by D/L method - Nov 12, 2013

New Zealand won by 4 wickets with 0 balls remaining by D/L method against Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI Cricket Match Played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on 12th November 2013. Click here for the Full Scorecard update. McCullum scored an unbeaten 32 off 9 while Latham (86) and Ronchi (49) also contributed to help NZ win by 4 wkts (D/L).

New Zealand were struggling to do well against Bangladesh and now, from a very difficult position, they have won a game. Sri Lanka would argue that they had the match in the bag with some early wickets, but Tom Latham and Luke Ronchi counter-attacked very well and steadied the ship. The pressure got the better of the latter just before his fifty and it looked like the hosts were going to hold their nerve when Kulasekara removed both him and Latham in the same over. Malinga fired the yorkers perfectly and made life difficult for Nathan McCullum in the penultimate over but Rangana Herath didn't have any answers to the power of McCullum and he couldn't defend 20 runs in the final over.

So New Zealand have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in this 3-match series with one game to go. What was going to be abandonded at one stage, turned out to be an absolute thriller courtesy some great work by the ground staff who got the ground play-fit after a 5-hour rain delay.
