CPL Match 2: Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel - 31st July 2013

Guyana Amazon Warriors began their CPL campaign with a 19-run victory against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel. Guyana Amazon Warriors won by 19 runs against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League 2013 2nd match Played at Providence Stadium, Guyana on 31st July 2013. Click here for the Full Scorecard Update.

Earlier Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel have won the toss and chose to field. Guptill and Simmons Added 74 for the Opening Wicket. Guyana have done well here to go past 150. At one stage it looked like they will not go past 130. But Franklin and Sarwan played aggressively in the end to propel the side to a good total. Guyana Amazon Warriors: 155/5 (20.0 Ovs).

Red Steel were never in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Young Nicolas Pooran was the only one who played an innings of substance albeit that controversial decision of not no-balling Narine when Dwayne Bravo was dismissed could come into case. Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel: 136/9 (20.0 Ovs).

The home side did brilliantly with the ball, with Permaul impressing the most with 3 scalps. Santokie too, did well, especially at the death while Narine was hard to get by.

A comprehensive win for the home side. They were not expected to come good against a superior Trinidad and Tobago, but Sarwan's guns have done it. The talking point for Trinidad would be their unexpected collapse given the strong batting line-up they possess.

The new ball bowlers for the visitors were not great, allowing Simmons and Guptill to get off to a racing start. They steadied things in the middle but conceded runs at a hemorrhaging rate towards the death. Still, 156 could have been chased down.

James Franklin gets an award for hitting the longest six of the match. Young 17-year old Nicolas Pooran gets a prize for being the fastest scorer of the match.

Krishmar Santokie has been named the Man Of The Match. Santokie was excellent with his lines and lengths being the most economical bowler and picking up 2 crucial wickets.

Two days, two home wins. Guyana have been the surprise scorers in the second. They have a decent mix but Trinidad and Tobago were simply disappointing. Guyana next meet Jamaica Tallawahs led by the big man Chris Gayle at this same venue on August 2, 2013 at 8 pm local. TT take on Barbados in their next game at Bridgetown on August 3, 2013 at 8 pm local.

Sri Lanka: 307/4 (50.0 Overs)
Earlier Sri Lanka have won the toss and chose to bat. They loss the first wicket Kushal Janith Perera for 13 runs in 4.2 overs. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Lahiru Thirimanne steady the Sri Lanka Innings and both batsmen are scored a 50 runs. Dilshan got out with 1 run short of his Ton and he out for 99 runs. Lahiru Thirimanne Scored a 68 runs. Kumar Sangakkara finished the Sri Lankaan Innings very aggressively and he scored 75 runs in 45 balls. Finally Sri Lanka Scored a Massive total of 307 run with the loss of four wickets. What a performance by the hosts! They absolutely hammered the South African bowlers.

South Africa: 179-all out (43.5 Ovs)
To chase a huge target South Africa lost their wickets regularly finally they manage to get only 179-all out, End of a dismal series for South Africa. There's been little of note from them in this series. On the other hand, the hosts have looked quite a dominant force at home and showed enough hunger in even the dead rubber. Kumar Sangakkara, undoubtedly, has been the star of the series. The veteran set a Sri Lankan record for most runs in a bi-lateral series. Dilshan found form in the last two ODIs while the bowlers were consistent all-round.

Dilshan is the Man of the Match for his 99.
Kumar Sangakkara is the Man of the Series for scoring 372 runs in the series.

In the Preentation:

Dilshan: 'I think they bowled really well. I got bogged down a bit. Little disappointed but these things happen. I've enjoyed the series. I know I can catch up afterwards in the powerplay so I don't bother about the strike rate. I'm throughly enjoying my bowling as well.'

Sangakkara: 'We had Thirimanne batting at 3. I think Dilshan and he provided a very good platform. The ball was coming onto the bat well. I try to target bowlers. If you're playing in Sri Lanka, you need totals of above 260-270. My first series was a triangular against South Africa. They are the best side in Test cricket. I've enjoyed watching AB, Hashim, Morne and Steyn. They've been really good friends off the field as well. That has helped relations on the field. They're a fantastic bunch of guys. Our team can be proud that we beat such a good team.'

AB de Villiers: 'We played cricket against a team that was out of our league. We have to learn and improve. It's amazing when you lose, all these negative things come up. You tend to over-analyse things. Maybe that is what is needed. We have a young team and this has been a great experience. We need to be better prepared next time. There will be some freedom for me in the T20 series. We're a nation that won't give up. I'm still proud of our boys. We will come back stronger.'

Angelo Mathews: 'I couldn't have asked for anything better. Dilshan and Thirimanne batted brilliantly. Unfortunately Dilshan could not get his 100. Sanga batted very well too. We have a good blend of seniors and juniors. While the seniors perform, we'll try to blood the youngsters. I'm sure the T20 series will be very exciting. On behalf of the Sri Lankan team I would like to thank the fans for their support.'

3rd ODI: India vs Zimbabwe Preview and Live Score Update - 28 July 2013

With the 2-0 lead of the 5 ODI series India would take on Zimbabwe in the 3rd ODI Cricket Match Today. India vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI played at Harare Sports Club, Harare on Sunday July 28, 2013. The match schedule to be start at 09:30 local time. Below find the Live Scorecard update for IND vs ZIM 3rd ODI match.

With India just one victory away from taking an unbeatable lead, Zimbabwe will be under pressure to keep the series alive. The Indian batting unit has looked solid and well-formed. Virat Kohli scored a ton in the 1st ODI and Shikar Dhawan hit a Ton in the 2nd ODI at Harare. Indian bowling units also pretty well with the young shoulders. They are restricted the Zimbabwe batting line up very well in the last two matches. Particularly Jaidev Unadkat who picked up 4 wickets and put pressure on the hosts. Dhinesh Karthick also in very good form. He was ably supported by Shikar Dhawan and their massive partnership helped India pile on a match-winning score of 294 after losing four wickets early on.

In all fairness, Zimbabwe have fought quite well in the first two games but have in fact been outplayed by a much better team. The openers have looked in good touch with Sikandar Raza hitting a classy 82 in the first game and Vusi Sibanda making a fine 55 in the second. They have given Zimbabwe good starts but unfortunately, the middle order has failed to capitalize on it. Prosper Utseya, one of Zimbabwe's most experienced players, struck an aggressive 52 and along with Elton Chigumbura put up a fighting stand in the last game. However, the assault came too late as by that time the Indians had already got a firm grip over the match. They need their batsmen to fire in unison instead of individual performances and if the likes of Sean Williams and Brendan Taylor come to the party, Zimbabwe will not find it difficult to build up in the middle overs.

Preview: Pakistan vs West Indies 1st T20 - July 27, 2013

Welcome and find the match preview, live scorecard update and live streaming link for Pakistan vs West Indies 1st T20I match played at at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown. PAK vs WI 1st T20 match schedule to be begins at 14:00 local time.

West Indies will be hoping to avenge their 1-3 ODI series loss when they take on Pakistan in the 2-match T20I series. Inconsistency has been the problem for West Indies, as was evident in their recent performances. Barring the series against Zimbabwe, the Caribbean side's showing in the recent times has been disappointing. Having failed to qualify for the semi-final stage of the Champions Trophy, the Windies faltered in the tri-series involving India and Sri Lanka before being humbled by Pakistan. They now have a chance to salvage some pride in a format West Indies are quite good at, having not lost a single T20I since winning last year's T20 World Cup.

Since winning the T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka in England in 2009, Pakistan's form in the shortest format has been up and down, as the sub-continental team has flattered to deceive on many occasions. Like West Indies, they too had a poor run in ODIs recently before they managed to turn things around impressively. They will be hoping that they can extend their recent ODI success to the T20 games and look to topple India from the third position in the T20I rankings, which they can do so if they win the series 2-0.

Teams:

West Indies (From): Darren Sammy(c), Johnson Charles(w), Dwayne Bravo, Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Samuel Badree, Christopher Barnwell, Shannon Gabriel

The bowlers made sure that Sri Lanka struggled in the chase, Tsotsobe struck thrice in no time to reduce them to 16/3. Mahela and Chandimal added useful runs but when they were reduced to 92/6, it looked all but over. Thisara had other ideas as he smashed 35 runs from one Peterson over, but the visitors held their nerve to close out the game.

Shikhar Dhawan Ton: India beat Zimbabwe in the 3rd ODI

India won by 58 runs against Zimbabwe in the 2nd ODI Cricket Match Played at Harare Sports Club on 26th July 2013. Shikhar Dhawan (116) and Dinesh Karthik (69) starred with the bat while Jaydev Unadkat (4/41) and Amit Mishra (2/46) did well with the ball as India defeated Zimbabwe by 58 runs to take a 2-0 lead.

Shikhar Dhawan set the tone with a fine albeit chancy century. In the reply, Zimbabwe got off to a solid start. Vusi Sibanda and Hamilton Masakadza started confidently but once these two fell the innings just fell apart. Zimbabwe were then just trying to play out the 50 overs. They managed to do that. For India, Unadkat had a very good day. He picked up 4 wickets and ran out Taylor as well.

Shikhar Dhawan is the Man of the Match for his 116.

Zimbabwe won the toss, and elected to field
India: 294/8 (50.0 Ovs)
Zimbabwe: 236/9 (50.0 Ovs)
India won by 58 runs

At the Presentation Ceremony:

Brendan Taylor told: 'We gave them too many chances and they made us pay. That partnership (between Dhawan and DK) really killed us. It was a good wicket to bat on. The top order has to take responsibility for this failure. We were really slow on the field. There were penalties in place. In hindsight, we should have just slowed the game down a bit. Our seam attack is pretty strong. We have to tighten up in the middle overs.'

Virat Kohli told: 'It was going to be a challenge for the batsmen. We lost a few early wickets, there were a few tricky calls as well. There are two sides of having luck. You could get bogged down or keep going. Dhawan kept going despite nicking a few. Dinesh as well. Pity he did not get a 100. We ended up getting 294. Those two batted beautifully. The wicket suited Unadkat. He bowls a good length and has good change of pace as well. The others supported him well. We are a new side. We are going to be put under pressure. The guys responded beautifully today.'

Dhawan told: 'It was one of my lucky days. You have some lucky days. I was playing well in the earlier matches but kept getting out. The wicket was not easy to bat on. But Dinesh and I batted well. That partnership got us through. I'm enjoying the moment. I'm in good form. We just wanted to play on the merit of the ball. We just wanted to stay. We knew we could recover later because both of us had a good range of shots.'

Perera conceded 19 runs in the 49th over and so did Malinga in the final over. Miller's knock included 4 boundaries and 5 massive sixes, he has made sure that his bowlers have something to defend. Mendis was superb in his comeback game, taking 3/35 and the hosts looked in total control until the final couple of overs.

3rd ODI: India set 295 runs target for Zimbabwe at Harare

India tour of Zimbabwe 2013: Zimbabwe have won the toss and elected to field against India in the 3rd ODI Match played at Harare Sports Club, Harare, Zimbabwe.

Shikhar Dhawan smashed a superb century while Dinesh Karthik and Vinay Kumar too chipped in vital cameos as India ended with a huge score of 294/8. Dhawan was well supported by Dinesh Karthik who helped himself to a 50. At the end, Vinay Kumar played a nice little cameo as 23 came off the final over. Zimbabwe who are considered to be one of the best fielding sides in the world had a horrible day, dropping 3 catches and even the ground-fielding wasn't up to their usually high standards. Maybe it was an off-day for them. That's the only plausible excuse one can think of. Anway Zimbabwe will need a collective effort with the bat if they are to have any hopes of chasing this down.

Zimbabwe have only themselves to blame, no-one else for their first-half showing. They had the ideal conditions to bowl in - it was swinging and seaming, they even got the early wicket of Rohit Sharma, but it all changed when Jarvis got a wicket off a no-ball. From then, things went pear-shaped as India gained momentum from that point. Still the story didn't end there. Rayudu was dropped and then Dhawan, who made the Zimbabwean bowlers pay for their poor stuff with his 3rd 100.

Sri Lanka vs South Africa 3rd ODI Scorecard Update

Hello and welcome to the 3rd ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa at Pallekele. Will a change in venue bring about a change in fortunes for the struggling visitors? They are 0-2 down, and need to win at all costs to stay alive in the 5-match series. A win for Sri Lanka will give them an unassailable 3-0 lead.

South African skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and decided to bat in third game of the series against Sri Lanka at Pallekele. Below watch the Live Scorecard Update.

Angelo Mathews will return to lead the hosts, who are already 2-0 up in the series. Dinesh Chandimal, the replacement captain, did a good job in the first two games, bagging the Man of the Match award in the last match. Mathews' return would mean an added edge to the bowling as the action moves to Pallekele. The pitch at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium is known to assist fast bowlers and with the likes of Malinga, Perera and Mathews in the XI, the hosts will no doubt prove to be a dangerous unit.

While Mathews comes back to add more firepower to Sri Lanka, South Africa will probably have to do without Hashim Amla, the opener for the rest of the tour. Already without Dale Steyn, the bowling has looked ordinary and Amla's absence from the batting line-up would mean a fragile side, at least on paper.

Teams:

Sri Lanka (From): Angelo Mathews(c), Kumar Sangakkara(w), Dinesh Chandimal, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Shaminda Eranga, Rangana Herath, Mahela Jayawardene, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis, Jehan Mubarak, Angelo Perera, Thisara Perera, Sachithra Senanayake, Upul Tharanga, Lahiru Thirimanne

South Africa (From): AB de Villiers(w/c), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Jean-Paul Duminy, Colin Ingram, Rory Kleinveldt, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Chris Morris, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Aaron Phangiso, Lonwabo Tsotsobe
