2nd Test: India 181/1 at Day 1 Bad Light Stops Play

India tour of South Africa 2013: India have won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in the 2nd Test match Played at Durban (Dec 26-30, 2013) Murali Vijay(91) and Cheteswar Pujara(58) were batting brilliantly for India before bad light stopped play and forced stumps to be called early on Day 1. IND: 181/1.

Steyn and Philander were lacklustre in their first spells. The openers saw through the period without any trouble. Morne Morkel breathed some life into the attack and he was constantly asking questions of either batsmen until he finally snaffled Dhawan. Pujara and Vijay have applied themselves quite well after that wicket. There is nothing alarming in the pitch and South Africa could be in for a long day if the wicket continues to play as it has.

It's been an excellent start to the Boxing day Test for India. Right from the toss, pretty much everything went right for Dhoni's men. They got first use of a flat wicket. The openers saw off the threat of the new ball and thereafter Vijay and Pujara hardly put a foot wrong. For South Africa, the only respite came in the form of bad light in the last session. That has eaten into some valuable time in the game.
