CPL T20 Match 3 - Barbados Tridents beat Antigua Hawksbills

Barbados Tridents won by 12 runs against Antigua Hawksbills in the CPL T20 3rd game Played at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on August 1, 2013. Click here for the Full Scorecard Update. Barbados will be very happy with the outcome. They have won both their games now. Their bowlers bowled really well to strangle the Hawksbills batsmen who never got going. Nurse came in the death overs and picked up four while Emrit bagged two wickets. Shakib bowled well at the top to give the early breakthrough and in the end his side have completed a fine win.

Barbados have two in two now as they defeat Antigua by 12 runs! What should have been a fairly easy run chase has turned into a labyrinth as Antigua Hawksbills just didn't know how to go about it. Early on they took their time to get settled but then, in a bid to match up with the run rate lost regular wickets and lost the plot completely. Charles was the leading scorer but he never looked composed at the crease riding his luck on most occasions and it was only a matter of time before he perished.

Samuels, the skipper played a grinding but a painstaking innings that led them nowhere and eventually cost them the game. Barbados were simply outstanding with their bowling. Timely bowling changes and field set-ups speak volumes for Pollard's captaincy who has once again marched his troops to a fine victory.

On a slow and gripping wicket, the slow bowlers did an excellent job to keep the Antiguan batsmen in check. Ashley Nurse was once again the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets for not many runs. He was ably supported by Shakib Al Hasan who had a good outing with the ball. Pollard and Emrit too were spot on with their lines and length to outmatch the Antigua Hawksbills.

Barbados Tridents' Shakib AL Hasan has been named the MAN OF THE MATCH for his tight spell early on. Admits that he did not have a great opening game and feels lucky that his skipper had confidence in him for this game. Says that he is not new to bowling with the new ball. Is surprised with the low turn out of the crowd and hopes for better attendance in the next game. Hopes that he starts scoring some runs as well.

The award for the biggest six is given to Kieron Pollard for his 93 metres long six. Umar Akmal is awarded the quick scoring award for his quick fire batting.

Barbados now take on Dwayne Bravo's Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel for their third straight home game. That will be played on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 8 pm local time. They will surely be looking for a hat-trick now. Antigua move over to Providence, Guyana, where they will take on Chris Gayle's Jamaica Tallawahs on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 3 pm local time. That will be a neutral venue for both sides.
